Synopsis
Amazon.com Only Living Witness' second album, Innocents, was one of the best loud rock records of 1996. Released by a label best known for its roster of European death metal, it was positively exploding with the kind of relentless, groovy riffs that would make Corrosion of Conformity green with envy. Only Living Witness eschew typical metal excesses, opting for head-down intensity and good old-fashioned ass-kicking. Sabbath may have been its archetype, but the band certainly drew its sound from punk's economy and rage as well. Unfortunately OLW broke up shortly after this release, leaving this final, amazing record as its legacy. --Adem Tepedelen Similar CDs

CD ReviewsYUM savant421 | 11/18/1998 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is an excellent CD. They manage to keep their "helmet-like" sound interesting and fresh. One of the best heavy albums I own." The Best Boston Band From Lowell Ma. savant421 | 06/05/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "I had the pleasure of seeing this band so many times i can`t count. Due in large fact that we share the same home town.Innocents was this bands crowning accomplishment, Alas it was also their swan song. I am still completely blown away by `Strata` and `Freak Law` these two tracks alone are worth the price of the cd. Only Living Witness--Innocents,is a blend of of explosive music and thought provoking lyric`s that at times is like a baseball bat to the skull and at other times is like two baseball bats to the skull. I dare anyone to find a better sounding recording then Innocents, the guitar sound is so rich and powerful and is blended together with the vocals to raw perfection, backboned by one of the strong -est rythm sections, that is so flawlessly tight and puncy,it would even make Tool a little sick. Also check out the bands other release`s..This band never released a weak album..I Swear to the god of rock n roll!!!.." Why must the good ones break up? savant421 | glendale, az United States | 06/29/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "I started rolling through the roster of Century Media bands (Stuck Mojo, Nevermore, My Own Victim) & pleasantly discovered OLW. My God, what an incredible CD! This truly was some of the best songwriting I had ever heard in my life! A unique singer, fused with metal and punk roots proved to be the right mix throwing in some very heavy, trompy riffs at just the right time to remind you they are a metal band. Even the haunting "Hank Crane" is a standout as well as the powerful "Downpour". Do yourself a favor, get this CD and show youself (& anyone else you can) what real music is supposed to sound like!!! PLEASE REFORM!"
