CD Reviews

One Word: Superb!
R. Toomey | Piscataway, NJ United States | 09/28/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This was in my opinion the best OMD album and the least known. I think that they really worked hard at this album. I was unsure of what turn they would take after putting out such a great album like CRUSH. When I first heard this I couldn't stop playing it because I couldn't believe how good it was. You really have to LISTEN to this album to get its full effect. The songs are amazing. "Forever Live and Die" was the chart hit but the singles they released off here NEVER saw the chart. They were such strong songs too. "Shame", "Watch Us Fall", "We Love You" and the powerful "Southern" which samples Martin Luther King, Jr's commentary throughout. You even have the bizarre track entitled "The Dead Girls" that when you first hear it you kind of walk away from it not understanding where it's coming from. The more you listen to it though you find it to be quite amazing. Then you have the upbeat "Goddess Of Love" that sounds like it has HIT potential but never makes it and the lovely ballad "Flame Of Hope". The album starts with the track "Stay" which is the introduction to what comes later. If you can find this CD anywhere you have to pick it up. You will not be disappointed especially if you are an OMD fan."
