A touch of Handel and Bach.....

"What a delightful CD this is! The dynamic range of this recording by Arte Nova is exceptional and the orchestration by Roman Storojenko expertly handles Molter's cheerful effervescent cadences with a delicate but masterful touch---the players really seem to be enjoying performing his music (a recent discovery) and it clearly shows. Arte Nova has produced some outstanding discs lately including David Zinman's recent Beethoven cycle based on the Barenreiter Edition by Johnathan Del Mar. (Be sure to check that out too!) This release from Arte Nova is no exception.

Molter is not well known among fans of Baroque music, but should be. Molter's music demonstrates the technical brilliance of Bach, but retains the joie de vivre of Handel. For those who enjoy Baroque, but wish for something outside of the ordinary, I suggest giving Johann Melchoir Molter an audition on your CD player..."
