"I saw an ad for this show on Facebook, and hurried over to see if it was available. After reading the only other review I ALMOST didn't purchase. I have a huge collection of cds, and lean toward the obscure - let's face it, Ruthless was campy brilliance.
It is that curiosity that led me to buy it anyhow. THANK GOODNESS! While the music is not instantly "catchy", the subtlety and cleverness soon become noticeable. I was slowly drawn in to the playful banter of "Vaudeville", and the other tracks followed.
I was reminded of Showboat, Gypsy, The Boyfriend and many others. The show has a fun, whimsical, stylized dated feel.
My Vaudeville Man is not a score to be sampled and tossed away. It will not appeal to those who prefer their musicals full of special effects, break out pop potential, or cartoon adaptation. What it DOES offer, is a solid musical certain to continue improving over time, and a talented pair of singers who reveal layers of clever wordplay while evoking a wistful, unapologetic look at a bygone time."

"I am sure that those who actually saw this production would think differently. However, as just a listener in the car.....I am sorely let down. I am very familiar with musical recordings and I have an eclectic collection. i am also a theater aficionado----this fell flat! two characters to fill a whole cd is difficult and SIDE BY SIDE is the only other show in recent memory to keep my interest with 2 people.
I love music from the turn of the century----but this has no memorable melody and although the story may be interesting, it had nothing that stood out as a selection that I would replay.
I wanted more than just piano accompaniment and I expected there to be really great songs----but there are not.
I will listen to it again, but for the price, I wish I had not purchased it.
