"Orquesta "Sublime" one of the top "fabulous 1950's" charanga orchestra was founded in Oriente province in Cuba, by skillful flautist/maestro Melquiades Fundora, aka "El Sinsonte de Nueva Paz". The demand in Havana, for this type of ensemble, due to the "Cha-Cha-Cha" craze of the 1950's created by maestro Enrique Jorrin, produced an exodus of many countryside and small town charangas to Cuba's capital city. Also many veterans, from other "orquestas", already in Havana, founded their own groups, featuring violins, flute, piano, bass, "timbal","guiro",a conga drum and chorus and lead singers. In this CD, recorded in Havana buy the "Panart"label around 1959 and 1960 are "pachanga", "son montunos","cha-cha's" and "danzon cha's" with "bolero" interjections. The "danzon-cha", "Importancias" is skillfully sung by Iluminada Zequeira, which at the time sang with the Arty Valdes ensemble which also featured the famous bolerista Orlando Contreras. "El Viejo Don Julio", "No Seas Tan Guapo", "A Una Ola", "Sabroso Como El Guarapo" and a skillful adaptation of the 1959 Hollywood Blockbuster theme "A Summer Place"/"Un Verano de Amor" and the rest of this CD's repertoire make it simply brilliant, but then again, every musical group in the fabulous Havana of the fabulous 50's was just that! Simply brilliant! Do not miss the yesteryear cuban classic!"
