Amazon.comThe best aspect of the Osborne Brothers' beautiful Hyden is that Pinecastle Records projects it as the first in a four-part anthology documenting the 40-year career of bluegrass fixtures Bobby and Sonny Osborne. Named after the brothers' hometown of Hyden, Kentucky, it features new recordings of older songs such as "Ruby," with a claw hammer banjo lick played by papa Robert and featuring Bobby's soaring tenor voice; "Picture on the Wall"; and "Great Speckled Bird," with Gene Wooten's Dobro out front. Newer tunes such as "A Child Again" and "Old Friend of Mine" sparkle and sound as if they've been in the Osborne show for years. Sonny's great Scruggs-style five-string banjo work and Bobby's mandolin lead a fine band, including Glen Duncan on fiddle, and leaves you eagerly awaiting the next volumes. --Brian Hollander
