Emotional ballads by a great singer

"This album was recorded in London in 1971 for CONTEMPO Records, did hardly any business and disappeared. Oscar Toney went back to supporting himself with whatever "real job" he earned his keep with. He may not have been the most successful singer or the best educated (sometimes his words are mispronounced or idiomatically accented) but the man sings from his heart with great clarity of feeling.
Maybe you've never heard of Oscar Toney Jr. but you know some of these songs. I've never heard anyone sing them with more direct or deeper emotional involvement. These days, singers avoid expressions of emotion by limiting their output to a range of 2 or 3 notes. Oscar soars. You'll feel like your heart just got plugged into an electric outlet. Amazing!
Many thanks to SHOUT! Records for reissuing this 1971 classic LP on CD or I would never have been able to afford it.
Highly recommended!"
