"I just saw "Oscar Peterson & Nelson Riddle" on this website. When I was younger, and the technology was not as advanced as it is, I bought a reel to reel tape of this album, and to say that I played it extensively is an understatement. Most of the songs are what I call "moody'; they set the tone for a slow, romantic dance-type mood. However, there are two songs, "A Sleepin' Bee" and "Someday My Prince Will Come" that just swing! All in all, a good album, and one that I can enjoy again."
Finally on CD, but I hate digipacks

"This is a fun recording, swaying from soft and elegant arrangements to up-tempo big band scoring. Oscar and the trio's playing is in fine form and Nelson's orchestra is spot on. My only complaint is the digipak (digipack). These things stink. The plastic CD tray has already caused a bunch of scuffing wear on the back cover. If companies must release these recordings without jewel cases, at least go the mini-LP route (with its own resealable outer plastic sleeve, just like the Japanese do). At least this way you have something that replicates the original vinyl release and is much more collectable/desirable."

"A perfect example of Nelson Riddle's genius as a arranger/conductor. And a showcase for the brilliant pianist Oscar Peterson."
AHHH, WHAT A LITTLE GEM!

"Just listening to this for about the third or fourth time since I got it about a week or so ago, and I'm wondering why this wasn't a huge hit, back in the day! First of all, it's so damn pretty! Secondly, Nelson Riddle with anybody, (whether it's Frank Sinatra or Linda Ronstadt) is going to be lovely. And, if you picture Oscar playing some pretty piano- later on doing some of his brilliant, mind-blowing super-speed flourishes (but in a very tasteful way, with obvious respect for the music here), then you pretty much get the idea. In fact, even before listening to samples, (prior to ordering), I could almost imagine what this combination would sound like. If anything, the results were even better than expected, upon hearing this disc in it's entirety! Criticisms? Yes, it's too short! If you love soothing, pretty, beautiful, romantic, warm, heartfelt music, (or someone to melt into you arms!), then this is an absolute must!"
