CD Reviews

Got me through the 70's and more!
NHgboy | Newport, NH United States | 05/13/2001

"This album is a great listen all the way through. Dave Jenkins does a great job with vocals on "Love Will Find A Way", "Don't Want To Live Without It", and "I Go To Rio". This is one of those rare cds that you can listen to from start to finish without pressing a button to skip a song. The lyrics may not be the deepest, but it's a good ride on the ship Pablo Cruise."
The Pablo Peak

"It's always nice to hear a good band when they hit their peak. For Pablo Cruise, this was it. Several other LPs, before and since, had a few nice moments. "Worlds Away," however, is worlds above their other efforts. The theme of Pablo was always island/beach related, and their music found its niche within the pop/rock genre. They were able to take the Beach Boys motif into a late '70s/early '80s sensibility, much like Jimmy Buffett had done a few years earlier. There is a blend of upbeat happy sounds ("Worlds Away," "Love Will Find a Way," "Don't Want to Live Without It," "I Go to Rio"), more intense riffs ("Runnin'"), and pleasant mellow sounds ("Always Be Together," "Sailing to Paradise").The end result is a timeless sound. Much of the music from that era was disco-themed or punkish, but Pablo rose above trendiness and created something quite special that sounds as fresh and make-you-smile as anything ever made. Well worth holding a slot in your CD changer on a regular basis."
Don't let it gather dust!

"Very few remember this great band-how unjust!Pablo Cruise were in the tradition of Santana,Eagles,Steely Dan,and in terms of musicianship they were equal to any of the above.Listen to this album with jazzy undertones and rediscover an unfairly forgotten band. They were masters of rythm and melody and,far from being dated, this music sounds as fresh today as it did in the late seventies."
