"At last it has arrived! The out-of-print "Parsifal: A Orchestral Quest" , an orchestral reduction of Richard Wagner's opera by Danish percussionist Henk de Vlieger, and conducted by Edo de Waart with the Netherlands Radio Philharminic (RCA/BMG).
I first heard this on the local classical radio station, during 5 pm rush hour. I forgot all about the traffic! I made sure to catch the name of the recording, and immediately tracked it on Amazon & put it on my wish list.
From the first opening unison statement to the end, it is an endless succession of washing chords, undulating and slowly covering you like a hot bath. Exquisite! The recording is excellent, and the horns, which I am very picky and critical about, sound great."
