Real Country Music

"I love many different types of music including country, and I have really been saddened the last decade to see the genre disappear. At least it has in Nashville. Everything (with a few exceptions) seems to be really awful pop. Thank God country music survives with a few outstanding musicians in Texas. In my opinion, Pat Green is probably the best of these musicians, and Carry On is a great album. Every song (except "Louisiana Song" which he admits is a departure) is real country music. All have something to say. All are well arranged and well played. "Whiskey," "Ruby's Two Sad Daughters," "You Gotta Know", "Rusty Old American Dream," and "Washington Avenue" are all really solid country songs. "Carry On" is a perfect song with a lot of wisdom. "Crazy" is a beautiful love song. My favorite "Take Me Out to the Dancehall" is a love song which could stand alongside any classic country song. Pat Green's music really captures life in rural Texas and in the rest of small-town America. His music is what happens in everyday life. Green's sound is also based on what you have always been able to hear at local dancehalls, and it is so refreshing in constrast with most of todays modern music. Hopefully, more people will begin to listen to Pat Green's music, and country can be saved."

"True, this may not be as good as some of his other stuff, but I don't think it deserves just one star. With Nashville ... the only thing else to turn to, I'll stick with Pat."
