"Like one reveiwer, I'm not one for cover tunes per se, but I like to try to keep an open mind. The thing that I like about this collection is first and formost, every song are excellent exsamples of classic guitar rock. Secondly, Pat shows how guitar rock should be played. So much of todays music simply leaves me unfulfilled. There is no imagination, no direction, no fire. There may be tons of talent, but without that fire all you end up with is some interesting sounds with a beat.A lot people would do well to add this collection to their list so that they can hear the stuff that, perhaps, inspired Pat to create the type of music that made people like me notice him in the first place. One of Pat's claim to fame, in my humble opinion, lies in the fact that most of his early works, has at least one classic blues standard. Whether they are original or a classic cover, they all bear the mark of a gentleman who gives back what he has been given. What in the world is wrong with that? Seems to me he has more fun doing this, then poor smucks like me who have to work for a living, and he gets paid for it too. Get it, yiu wont regret it."
PT Rocks Again! (Finally)

"First we finally get Puttin It Straight (from 1977)released on CD, then this fantastic hard rockin' release for one of the all time guitar gods. I don't know what happened to PT in 2003, but I'm glad he got rid of his case of the "blues" and came back to his roots. With this lineup and some of the genius of his original songs, the next CD could be the comeback we have been waiting for.Until then put on the one of the best versions of HWY 61 Revisited ever recorded."
What do you want?

"This is an album of covers. Good to excellent covers of guitar driven power trios* of the past. There are covers of Tramp (Stray Dog), Day of the Eagle (Robin Trower), Young Man Blues (the Who), Highway 61 Revisited (Johnny Winter), etc.. Most of the covers stick close to the cited versions (not, in the case of Hwy. 61 & Young Man, to Dylan or Mose). Pat is in fine six string form, and so if waht you want is power trio covers, this album is for you. It's what I was looking for, hence the 4 stars.
If you are looking for more originality, more bluesy, something to break up the pounding, newer sounding, whatever. . . this album is not for you."
Get PT=MC2 instead (or as well!)

"I'd say the truth is somehere between the more extreme opinions here.
They're good covers, some VERY good, & Pat's great, but they are just covers. Get his last album of actual PT songs instead - it's excellent 'proper' Travers. Or, better for Pat, get both!
In my opinion, PT=MC2 (as in 'squared') and 'Just a Touch' show that he's far from 'washed up'!!!!
