"By Patrice's third Elektra release, she had found a genius knack of creating classic R & B songs, and had a unique sound, all her own - a sound that still hasn't been duplicated.



All the songs on "Posh" stand the test of time - each of the eight songs is different and all feature Patrice's various vocal and instrumental powers to great effect.



R&B, funk, soul, gospel, disco, classical, rock ...... you name the genre - everything is here; all within these eight songs.



Patrice's Elektra work is far too important not to be heard.



Anyone with R & B/jazz sensibilites should own at least one Patrice Rushen album - and there's no better place to start than this one! Then go on and buy the rest!!

"As indicated 'Pizzazz' is Patrice Rushen's R&B breackthrough
but she REALLY finds her legs on 'Posh'.The music is solid,the
funk is more muscular and her singing has grown in confidance!
"Never Gonna Give You Up","Don't Blame Me","Look Up!" and the
THUMPASAURUS fonk of "Funk Won't Let You Down" tune down the pop and bring up the grooves even as she rocks out on hard-edged "Time Will Tell" and excersises her piano playing ability in the superbly arranged "The Dream".Patrice Rushen had at last discovered a way to be poppy,soulful,funky AND herself all at once and it wouldn't be very long at all until she parlayed these ideas into a hit-making factory in the pop world!"

"Up until I started hearing her music sampled by Rap and R & B artists in the 90's, I thought that my cousin Cheryl and I were Patrice Rushen's only true fans. I am delighted to see that there are others who appreciate this musical genius and as a teenager in the 80's, Patrice Rushen was one of my musical she-roes! This woman plays many instruments and she also writes, produces, and arranges her own material [which is why she is still around today, working behind the scenes]. She was then, and is now, light years ahead of her musical contemporaries.



Of all of her albums, "Posh" is still my favorite. I can still listen to every song on this album without skipping a track! It is one of the only albums (Yes, I said "Albums"!) that I have a copy of on vinyl, cassette, and now on CD. From beginning to end, the songs on this album blend together beautifully. From the blaring horn intro to "Never Gonna Give You Up" to the concerto-esque opening to "This Is All I Really Know", this album will musically and lyrically take you through all of the emotions of life and love. It is extremely difficult for me to suggest a stand-out song on this album because I love all of these songs. I highly recommend this album to anyone who has ever heard a song with a Patrice Rushen sample in it. (Most recently Kirk Franklin used the Patrice Rushen "Haven't You Heard" sample (from "Pizzazz") for his song Looking For You and Michael Lyttle had the nerve to say the following in his amazon.com review, "One is hard pressed to not remember the Love Unlimited Orchestra when hearing `Looking for You'..." Come on amazon.com! Please give Patrice Rushen her proper credit where credit is due!)"
