"This CD exemplifies the meaning of the words, classic, mellow, smooth and romantic. All I can say is PLEASE BUY IT! My favorites are "Days Gone By", "Hurry Up This Way Again" and "Wise Ole Souls". Anyone buying this CD will not be disappointed. "Signature" is a must have for your music collection."
"Signature" a must have

"As a child of the 70's & 80's growing up on Patrice Rushen's popular tunes such as "Forget Me Nots", "Haven't You Heard" and "Remind Me", I was pleasantly surprised to find the album "Signature", which met my maturing musical tastes in jazz in the late 90's. Rushen gives a refreshing take on her covers of Sade's "Sweetest Taboo" and the Stylistics 70's classic "Hurry Up This Way Again." This is primarily an instrumental album, and for the material showcased it is very appropriate that she limits her vocal presence on it to background vocals on the 2 cover tunes. Her 70's and 80's R&B albums featured playful vocals, which lent themselves to the youthful image she has managed to carry over into the new century (to look at her, you wouldn't believe this woman is over 50!), but it is her playing style and the chemistry she has with her guest musicians on "Signature" that keep me coming back to this album. It's great background music for setting a relaxing or romantic mood. Favorite cuts are "Arrival", "Almost Home" and the covers mentioned above. Highly recommended to Rushen fans, smooth jazz addicts and anyone who just loves good music."
