"If you've seen "Much Ado About Nothing" by Kenneth Branagh then you can reasonably agree that Patrick Doyle's score is an hauntingly beautiful addition to a masterful film. There is the grand opening, the soulful requiem, and the joyous celebration all wrapped into one delightful package. The orchestrations are moving and nicely arranged. I encourage anyone to listen to the music even if they haven't seen or read this wonderful story!"

"As a classically trained musician and former theater person, I have developed an ear for especially evocative and carefully crafted film scores. This one is absolutely top-notch. The film itself is excellent, but the music stands on its own. The overture is particularly exhilarating. This is a beautifully created, cheerful revel. The compositions, musicianship, and recording quality are all excellent.

For Shakespearean soundtracks, please also try Jocelyn Pook's music for The Merchant of Venice and Simon Rattle's soundtrack for Henry V. Their intensity is not as cheerful as Much Ado, but is equally rewarding. Also seek an out-of-print copy of the 2-CD set Shakespeare at the Movies. All of these stand on their own, and are well-worth listening to.
