"Patrick Zimmerli's latest CD demonstrates emphatically that he is in the forefront of crossover (jazz to classical) composers. "Twelve Sacred Dances" combines fragments of traditional and modern jazz with Schoenbergian leaps and Webernesque textures, as well as some reminiscence of the Babbitt-Carter axis. All these elements emerge with a strong personal stamp and the effect is very exciting musically. The playing is superb, and each instrumentalist executes virtuoso tasks of great complexity - especially rhythmic - with facility and elan."
