In 2006, Pattern is Movement worked with engineer and producer Scott Solter (Spoon, Mountain Goats, Tarentel) on their album "Stowaway." In 2006, the band handed the tapes back to Solter to do with them what he pleased. The architect became the destroyer as tape machines were booby-trapped, analog gear harassed, and wire recorders sent spinning. The original sounds (the only source material) were undermined - and exalted - by the very devices that brought them to life in the first place. "Stowaway" was dismantled. "Canonic" was born.
