"Paul Anka's early 60's pop music, sung in Italian, works so well on so many different levels. This has been a delightful discovery for me and here's why...first of all, his voice seems richer, more supple and forceful here than on his "American" hits. Dare I say he sounds more sophisticated? That's your call. True, you can sing the phonebook in Italian and it will sound wonderful--and this CD is no exception. If you're like me, you've played your Rat Pack CDs until they're worn out, so ADD SOME PAUL ITALIANO to your mix and I think you'll be pleased with the results. Not only do songs like "Diana" and "Cinderella" sound familiar, but your favorite 60s recording techniques are here as well--twangy guitar, thumping bass and that opera lady in the corner. The ballads are real torchy--ladies, your guy is gonna start looking real good with this music on. The swingy rock'n'roll pieces will have you snapping your fingers and craving a Campari 'n' soda before you hop on your Vespa to take in a Fellini flick. Also, songs like "La Verita" could easily be covered by the likes of Chris Isaak, this stuff is so cool. Ciao, baby! --Tony Madejczyk"
