Synopsis

Album Description
This is popular music for children and adults alike. The songs are made up of valid contemporary musical forms, including pop, rock, folk, hip-hop, rap, and doo-wop combined with lyrics appropriate for the pre-teen crowd. This music doesn't condescend. Neither does it preach. It honors kids and aims to entertain with wit, humor and emotion but doesn't forsake good musicianship and professional recording techniques and quality.

Opera Singer Succeeds Where Most Have Failed
Arbiter of Good Taste | 11/29/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Over the years, I have been subjected to countless, horrific "crossover" albums of opera singers trying to make pop music. But Paul Austin Kelly's "Kidstuff" is a true delight! Kelly is able to successfully switch gears, and unless you knew it, you'd never think this guy was one of the finest Rossini/Mozart tenors of his generation. The songs are perfect for young kids, providing a much-needed alternative to more traditional material that "talks down" to them (or, for that matter, to Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys). The album is, quite obviously, a labor of love, and contains a sufficient variety of material to make it attractive (and fun) listening for adults as well. "Kidstuff" may be childlike, but it is never childish. It appeals to the proverbial kid in us all."
