CD Reviews

Master of masters!
Hiram Gomez Pardo | Valencia, Venezuela | 09/18/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"It's extremely hard and complex to undertake the titanic task in order to compile an impressive discography of one of the most important pianists of the XX Century, due as the relevancy of his art, he would deserve at least sixty records at least (you should not forget that, until 1957, when he was 31,had already recorded 250 albums).

In this sense, this admirable effort must be regarded just as the peak of the iceberg of this relevant musical personality. His contribution went further, being author of several books of undeniable interest and importance.

I had the coveted privilege to meet and watch him, four times in Caracas, (1968, 1986, 1989 and 1998 playing Mozart's Concerto 22, Beethoven's Fourth, the three last Beethoven's sonatas and an unforgettable Schubert's D. 960), and besides I was lucky to get a good part of his enormous discography along the seventies and eighties before the arrival of the digital technology.

That's why I can give faith about my conviction this is a very transcendental album that includes a selected register of his countless performances.

You should not miss it. There` s no pretext at all.
