Mike & The Mechanics were the next band to use his vocal talents, and he sang their hits 'Silent Running' and 'The Living Years'. Another solo hit followed with 'Don't Shed A Tear'. CD Reviews

EXCELLENT COMPILATION WITH SOME NEW RECORDINGS
BOB | LOS ANGELES, CA | 09/07/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"
This is a no-brainer companion piece to 21 Good Reasons, the previous Paul Carrack "best of", released in 1994.

There is even less overlap between the two discs than appears above, because the track listing for this CD does not list two re-recordings: "The Living Years" and "Love Will Keep Us Alive" are "2006 versions" newly-recorded specifically for this edition.

"Living Years" is pretty much a straight, albeit perfectly enjoyable, read (complete with requisite gospel chorus), but "Love Will Keep Us Alive" has been morph'd into a great, slow, funky number, closer to the live version which appeared on the expanded import edition of It Ain't Over than the 1996 original. Both retreads are excellent.

The audio is, of course, improved over the 1994 disc, so the older hits like "I Need You" sound even better. And, having benefitted from 20 years of improved recording technology, "Living Years" sounds better than the original M+M version, audio-wise.

The price for this import is a little spendy, but if you're a true Carrack fan, it's definitely worth the money."
Paul Carrack - The Story So Far

"Great CD ! I've been looking for a "best of" CD of Carrack locally for a long time. Couldn't be found. Most didn't know who he was, but most everyone recognizes his voice and the songs he's recorded with various groups/artists over the years. Very pleased I was finally able to locate this. I'm a happy camper."
Loving it

"I love this CD. I have several of Carrack's where I like some of each.

It is great that this CD covers all of the bands he has been in.

I listen to it over and over again."
