"FIRST LIGHT by Paul Hardcastle proves that musicians can break out of the "all my songs sound the same" rut! It is very different from anything Hardcastle has done before and I think it's a welcome departure. By far, the best trac on this CD: VOYAGER. Try it-you just might like it!"

""First Light" is a bit different from some of Paul Hardcastle's other work. Released in 1997, it has a more experimental feel than his current compositions, yet retains the rhythmic dreaminess that his fans enjoy. Using snippets of gregorian chant, African tribal songs, prayers in Hindi and in Spanish (I even recognized bits of the Bulgarian women's choir), he has woven a tapestry of fascinating melodies that bear repeated listening. My only criticism is that the album notes shed no light on the sources of the influences he has drawn from. Is that the King's College Boys Choir? What language is track 15 sung in? It would have been interesting to know."
One of my favorite Hardcastle Disks!

"I enjoyed every song on this album. My favorites would have to be "Sanctity", "Tribal Call", "First Light (Part 1)" and "Horizons". Truly a Hardcasle masterpiece!"
