Spare, bare, and evocative songwriting from a master

"Post continues to be my favorite Paul Kelly album--and I have them all. Many of the songs were re-recorded later with more lush production, but it is the sparseness of production here that makes the songs so evocative. The words and music suck you in, play with your emotions, and leave you wanting more. I remember the first time I heard this album I was floored by the imagery: the road-weariness evoked in From St. Kilda to King's Cross, the can't-wait-to-get-the heck-outta-dodge disdain of "Adelaide", the lust/love of "You Can Put Your Shoes Under My Bed." He writes like a cinematopher photographs, a poet plays with words, or anactor speaks his/her lines: With absolute command and authority. Truly a master songwriter. If you want to try out Paul Kelly, this is the album I recommend you start with."
Great Aunts...
