"It's back. May this essential recording never disappear again. Motian and his merry 'melodians' dig deep into their bags of skilled trickeries to make rousing renditions out of seemingly stale show tunes. Fine jazz should always have a strong sense of searching, which this does, but herein is also contained the spirit of each tune tweaked to angular perfection in the throes of sentiment. Not sentimental."
