Paul Oscher's latest, Bet on the Blues, has already garnered him three nominations from the 2011 Blues Music Awards (WC Handy Awards) for Best Acoustic Album, Best Acoustic Artist and Best Instrumentalist - Harmonica. The album contains fifteen tracks of low-down blues, gospel and jazz from this former Muddy Waters Blues Band member and multiple Blues Music Award winner. Recorded live and in the studio, this work features Paul on vocals, bass harp, neck-racked (diatonic and chromatic) harmonicas, guitar and piano in solo, trio and quartet settings. The title track Bet on the Blues is a great story about Paul meeting Little Walter for the first time and playing three card monte with him (contains explicit language!). Oscher ventures out of the blues box to perform a stunning bass harp rendition of the jazz classic Round Midnight. This album is deep roots music played from the heart by a living master of the genre. Special guests include Willie 'Big Eyes' Smith and Kid Andersen.
