(4 out of 5 stars)

"Hearts and Bones belongs with a collection that became

known as the "Solo Years" along with Rhymin' Simon. Many

reviewers have stated that this work [Hearts and Bones],

is underrated and a "masterpiece". Well, it certainly is

a great songwriting effort. Once again Paul made

sure he only had the best musicians in the studio.

[Nile Rodgers, Al DiMeola]. The Fender Rhodes piano is

still evident accompanied by tight drumming. Lyrically,

the songs flow in their usual way.Paul is extremely gifted,

perhaps a genius, and most would agree. Musically he plays

intesting chords on the guitar, and somehow manages to sing

with them. This all around ability transformed his career,

with or without his schoolboy friend Art Garfunkel. Hearts

and Bones was originally released in 1983. This remastered

version is spellbinding and deserves full honors in the Paul

Simon portfolio. As Paul approaches the age of 70, he still

performs on stage [mostly in Europe] to the delight of his

followers.The retirement years in New Canaan, Connecticut ;

[perhaps not the most glamorous of places]...is for Paul a

resting place. When the day does eventually arrive for Mr. Simon

to say "goodbye", most might say "Hearts and Bones" is but a

slice of his musical adventure ; full of musical artistry and brilliance.
