"Although only three albums were dished out from Paula's seven year music career, the first two albums alone generated enough to warrant at least a worthy compilation of her most memorable hits from her 1988 debut album "Forever Your Girl" and 1991's masterpiece "Spellbound".



These two albums were very different from each other but were absolutely a lot of fun to listen to and still are even today even though a lot of her music on her debut album has aged poorly over time.



All five hits from her "Forever Your Girl" album are available on this album. The best one is "Opposites Attract" and this version unlike the parent album version has that fun rap bridge in the middle and was the version featured on the unforgettable video featuring that animated cat dancing with Abdul in the video. In all honesty, I like this version more. The other smash hits "Cold Hearted" and "The Way That You Love Me" are also featured on here and the former is very unique with it's blend of orchestral and dance pop to create a sometimes disturbing song. The success of this album went well into 1990 and deservedly so.



Her second album 1991's "Spellbound" was a grand leap forward artistically in my book. Unlike her debut album, in many ways, "Spellbound" has aged very gracefully. "Promise of A New Day" is absolutely uplifting and inspiring even to this day. The chime effect in the introduction part of this song alone etched "Spellbound" in my memory. This is my favorite song by Abdul and it still sounds fresh and new to this day. "Rush Rush" is an incredible ballad with a very soulful and moody tone to it. The keyboards are incredible. The success of "Spellbound" continued into 1992 even though not quite as long as "Spellbound" did.
