CD Reviews

A very good CD, by a very beautiful singer from SEAWIND days

"I bought this CD 'specifically' for the re-do of "Follow Your Road" which is one of my favorite Seawind songs. I was first introduced to Seawind music while I was in college in 1979 to 1983 in western New York state. I was really into fusion jazz/funk/rock and was pleasantly surprised to find that there were christian musicians that were making their mark in the jazz/fusion world. Seawind was one of those groups that you wish would have stayed together longer and made more albums. This group had 'tight' horns, superbly talented rythme section
with Bob Wilson (Pauline's then husband) laying the down beat on drums. But what really made this group stand out was Pauline's VOICE! This woman can SING!!! Additionally, she is strikingly beautiful! I knew she had recorded at least ONE solo album, but I could not find it anywhere. On this CD, she bares her soul and apparently sings a lot about circumstances revolving around her relationship with her (then) husband, Bob Wilson. She sings about pain, betrayal and moving on in life after disappointments. I wish her well as she lives out the rest of her life. I also hope that we have not heard the last of Pauline
Wilson. Her's is a voice that NEEDS to be heard AND appreciated!"

"Good album, from in my opinion, one of the world's most outstanding living female vocalists. This is real easy listening, and is mellow jazz the way it should be. Yet, I long to hear Pauline extend her repetiore slightly - with her superb talent, I would like to hear her range over a few more styles of jazz. But that's to take nothing away from this fine album. Well done Pauline - you are a jazz mucisian par excellance!"
The voice of Seawind

"I had some kind of deja vu when I read the name of former Seawind lead singer, Pauline Wilson, on my internet search for traces of one of my favorite bands of the seventies. It looks like it's always the same story: it's not the best music that prospers and gives musicians a material basis to stay together. In fact there was probably no other band that has influenced the rising and developing of white funky melodic jazz like this Hawaian troop of mostly talented guys in the seventies. After the band split up in the early eigthies, every single member of seawind started his own solo career as a studio musician or in other band projects. I saw Larry Williams touring with Al Jarreau in Germany; many popular sounds cannot be imagined without the outraging horn arrangements of Jerry Hey, a.s.o. But we were always asking ourselves what might have happened to Seawind bandleader and drummer Bob Wilson and his wonderful wife, the charming and soundgiving Pauline. So here she was - bringing back one of the most wonderful and poetic songs of my youth: "Follow your road". We sometimes dream of a reunion of Seawind - with Pauline as lead singer and - maybe - a concert trip to Europe. Anyway, I'd also come to the States just to see the band live on stage for an night. Good luck to all the Seawind musicians, especially to sweet voice Pauline! May God bless and keep you."
