"Pedro Vargas has a wonderful, warm voice and sings with great feeling. He sings equally well ballads, boleros, and rancheras. Incredible! There are two CDs called "Lo mejor de lo mejor" for Pedro Vargas; this one and one produced in 2001. Both are excellent; only a few songs overlap, so if you love his voice, buy both of them! This one, unfortunately has no liner notes; it does not tell you the composers, the musicians, nor the other singers in duets. "La negra noche" is a duet with Jorge Negrete; "Traicionera" with Libertad Lamarque, "Felicidades" with Julio Iglesias. Most of the rancheras--Ella, Corazon, corazon, La carinosa, Cuando vivas conmigo, Que bonito amor, El rey--are accompanied by the great Mariachi Vargas de Tenochtitlan. Many of boleros are accompanied by the big band of Mario Ruiz Armengol. Truly "the best of the best.""

"This is a good song selection of his music. I think this is the only cd of his music that I have. I must say that most of the songs in this cd are from his later recordings(i.e when he was older). This cd that I am reviewing is not bad at all either. It tells you how good this "tenor de las Americas" was."
