Acceptable, but not Miles From Home

"This is Peshay's highly anticipated follow-up to his *amazing* album "Miles From Home". Peshay is a musical genius and brings true musicality to the drum-n-bass genre with jazzy riffs, soulful vocal hooks, and precision beat-smithing. This album falls a bit short however, compared to his last work. He has replaced the acoustic basses that gave his earlier tracks like "Miles From Home" and "Pacific" such a nice jazzy sound with big analog synth lines in tracks like "Bring It" and "No More Tears" that sound really old-school. There are still many elements that make these new tracks instantly identifiable as Peshay - big band hits, jazzy synth lines, high strings, and pounding drum beats. The best tracks in my opinion are the repetitive "You Got Me Burning" and the very cool "What I Need". However, this album seems to explore less ground than the last - nearly every track has soulful female vocal samples - which is cool, but gone are the tracks with MCs rapping on top (like "End of Story"), slower instrumentals ("Pacific"), massive jazzy tracks ("Live at 237"), and tracks where vocals really get a strong focus ("Truly"). So while this album definitely fills my Peshay fix, it didn't live up to my (admittedly high) expectations. All the same, keep it up Peshay, you are truly one of the best!"

"To his credit, Peshay has not produced another 'Miles from Home' (which was a great album). he has moved on, so lets avoid the whole 'i like his old stuff better than his new stuff' routine. While the last album was influenced heavily by jazz, this one seems to be influenced more by soul and... house. I see some similarities between some of the tunes on this album and J Majiks recent stuff. 'You got me burning' is a great opener, which most of the 'headz would've already heard in the clubs. In my opinion the real gems are 'satisfy my love' and 'no more tears', but to be honest, all the tunes on here are tearing."
