Synopsis
Amazon.com This collection of tranquil selections of classical music from flutist Peter Davison and pianist Scott Hiltzik makes for familiar and soothing sounds by which to engage in yoga postures. We hear mostly from Ravel, Debussy, and Bach with some of their most recognizable works: "Pavane," "Arabesque," and "Siciliano," respectively. Davison and Hiltzik's renditions are soft and dreamy, forming a serene backdrop for the slow art of yoga stretching. Davison's originals--though lacking in the timeless melodies of great composers--are lovely, too, fitting well with the melancholy repertoire. With quiet classical standards played by a small, relaxed ensemble, this isn't a CD that will shake up the world, but it does succeed in centering the soul. --Karen K. Hugg |
CD ReviewsA wide range of classical pieces. 05/10/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a wonderful group of pieces that moves from classical to romantic to baroque to contemporary to impressionist. Peter Davison, who also composed some of the music, performs the flute with a lovely warm tone and the violin, cello and piano are just beautiful. Since the compositional styles go so many places, one can leave this on without it becoming predictable. We listen to this CD a lot." LOVE IT! This CD is always on my computer - work & at home 05/04/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "I really like the way Peter Davison has chosen and arranged these compositions by great composers like Debussey, Bach, Ravel, Beethoven, etc. Peter Davison has also composed several of the pieces himself The CD has so many styles of music that I don't notice it has started over. I can just leave it on and it makes a pleasant musical background for my life!"
