PETER DEMBSKI's latest recording, DOUBLE LIFE, showcases Peter's piano playing with a group of outstanding musicians, including MILES DAVIS' alumni TOM BARNEY (also on the Grammy Award winning Steely Dan CD " Two Against Nature") and MINO CINELU ( also from STING'S band and MARCUS MILLER's CD "M2"). The music ranges from an acoustic jazz trio to a contemporary electric R&B sound featuring Peter's acoustic piano. The Peter Dembski Group is all about the groove. Whether it is a tune penned by pianist/songwriter Peter Dembski or a new arrangement of an old standard, Peter freely uses jazz, R&B, and Caribbean styles to create music with a beat. The result is a blending of old and new, a fresh new sound in jazz. While most of the material is written by Peter, also included on the CD is a contemporary version of the Mingus classic, "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat", Wayne Shorter's "Beauty and the Beast" and Marcus Miller's "Mr. Pastorius". Other musicians on the CD include! alto and soprano saxophonist form Chaka Khan's group, Aaron Heick and drummer Terry Silverlight from Roberta Flack's band.
