Duke, Billy and Tadd is the recording of a lifetime for Peter Welker, longtime San Francisco Bay Area trumpet player, bandleader and arranger. Peter has performed and recorded with many of the top jazz, R&B and rock musicians in the world. For this inspired and heartfelt tribute to Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn and Tadd Dameron - three of the most talented, influential and prolific American composers and arrangers of the 20th century - Welker spent 700 hours writing arrangements for his band and guest artists. The lineup of musicians who appear on this CD is very much second to none. "I called in all my markers for this one," said Welker, who spent 2 1/2 years writing arrangements and recording the 11 songs. Many of the musicians are not only Grammy Award winners or nominees, but are good friends of Welker's during his 50+ year career as a professional musician.
