"This 2 CD album is the 100 anniversary celebration of the Les Petits Chanteurs A La Croix De Bois (Small Singers With the Wood Cross) and presents this Choir of young French choristers at their best. Their voices are beautiful and full, yet in many cases they are not embellished by instruments. This is quite unusual, as most choirs have an organ or other instrumental backup to produce the depth of sound. These boys have the ability to do it all.
Another interesting thing was that the album contains re-mastered recordings from the early 1930's I found it fascinating how much the technology of music reproduction has improved in 100 years. You can actually hear the absence of the highs lows, and body of the music.
Most songs are in French and but you will pick up the melodies quickly, and enjoy them just for the beauty of their excellent performance!
