"This 10-CD set represents all the 4-track EPs Clark issued in the U.K. between 1964-1968, replicated right down to the original artwork. While die-hard fans who must have everything may want to include this in their collections, those looking for a compilation of Clark's greatest hits can do far better elsewhere. First of all, the 40 tracks here were remastered from the original monaural tapes, whereas most of them are available in stereo on other CDs. Secondly, in keeping with presenting these EPs exactly as they were originally produced, some of the tracks are repeated. And finally, with only 4 tracks per CD, those with players with single-CD only capability need to be prepared to change the disc every 13 minutes or so. While much of the material herein showcases Clark at her finest, it can be heard - with far better sound quality - on a number of other releases considerably less expensive than this."

"These discs contain what appear to be the original, dedicated monaural mixes of these classic tracks. While the source tapes show their age in a couple spots, because the discs are well mastered they present an exceptionally stable monaural image, unlike many popular monaural CDs.
I also own The Ultimate Petula Clark, which contains the stereo mixes, and this Sixties EP Collection appears NOT to be "folded down" from the stereo mixes. Which compilation sounds better? IMHO, it's a toss-up; some tracks are better in the stereo mix and some better in the mono mix. You can't really go wrong, sound-wise, with either compilation. Maybe Amazon should recommend these two compilations as "Better Together", because by having both one can compare and contrast the monaural vs. stereo mixes from an era when stereo was not yet the norm."
