For Diehard Petula Clark Fans

"This compilation of Petula Clark recordings from the 1970s consists of covers of hit songs by the likes of Hank Williams, Peter, Paul & Mary, Neil Sedaka, Bread, Shirley Bassey, and the Spanish group Mocedades, among others. They're not bad covers, Petula Clark's voice is as good as usual, but they're not that great either. Ms. Clark and the producers seemed to have been playing it safe with these recordings. Still, the CD is cheap and, except for the self-penned songs that are missing, this collection provides a good overview of Ms. Clark's 1970s English-language recordings. If you really like Petula Clark's voice, you'll enjoy it. Otherwise, I'd recommend you skip this one and get the original recordings."
SUPER SEVENTIES SONGS BY PETULA

"These recordings are wonderfully produced joys originally issued on the MGM and Polydor labels in the early to mid-1970s. Petula's voice is in top-form covering many classic hits of the period, including her hits of "The Wedding Song" (the BEST-ever version) and "My Guy." This is very nice compilation of a period of Petula's recording career that doesn't get as much attention as it should. A treat for any pop music fan at a great price."
Some of Petula's seventies music

"Petula made only a limited impact in the seventies - a pity, because some of her seventies music was wonderful. All the tracks are taken from three albums (Now, Come on home, I'm the woman you need) that were made available on CD in America for a while but are now out of print. Although Petula recorded some original material at the time, this compilation focuses mainly on covers. Given that, it is surprising to find that Loving arms (a well-known song that gave Petula an American hit despite being a cover) is omitted while three original songs (Wedding song, Will you love me, To give) are included.
Apart from those original songs, the rest are covers from a variety of sources. There are two Hank Williams songs (Half as much, Your cheating heart) as well as a Gordon Lightfoot medley (Here comes that rainy day feeling again / If you could read my mind) and a Bread medley (Baby I'm a want you / Everything I own).
Perhaps the most famous song is Without you. Originally written and recorded by Badfinger, this song became an international best-seller for Nilsson in 1972 and later topped the UK charts for Mariah Carey in the nineties. Petula's version is, of course, magnificent.
With all these great songs, together with Petula's covers of Killing me softly, I can see clearly now, Solitaire, In the old fashioned way, Baby I'm yours, My guy and Until it's time for you to go, this album clearly demonstrates Petula's skills as a great singer of quality songs.
For those that missed the opportunity to buy the original albums when they have been available, this at least provides proof that Petula was still in great voice in the seventies."
