"One of the things that I all ways loved about music from the 1960's is the creativity. Music from the 60's was in my opinon, the best music ever made for many reasons. Now, back then, you could take just one song, and in the span of 4 of 5 years you would have 4 or 5 different covers of the same song done by 4 or 5 different groups. It was left up to the listener to deceide which rendition they liked best. No one has ever seemed to notice or at last mention the fact that this doesn't seem to ever happen anymore. Now, the were MANY talented singer/songwiters from that time: Bob Dylan, Steven Gillette, Jimmy Webb, and of course my personal favorite, the great Bob Lind. Of course there were also many genius Writers who were part of bands, but I'm just speaking solo writer at this time. Every body always gloats about how everybody back then was singing Dylan songs. This is true, however, the same groups who all were singing Dylan were also singing P.F. Sloan tunes, its just that nobody knew it. Sloan is one of the many unsung heros of music history. We all know that Dylan, Lennon and McCartney, Smokey Robinson wrote songs in the 1960's but it almost seems that people forget that while these guys are talented they were NOT the ONLY people writting songs back then.What about: Bob Lind, John Phillips, Mike Nesmith, and P.F. sloan? Many of the songs on this album I've heard before sung by many different groups/singers: Barry Mcguire, The Mama's and The Papas
The Grass Roots, The Turtles, The Association, The 5th Dimension, Four Jacks and A Jill, and Johnny Rivers. YES! all of these guys were singing songs by Sloan (and Bonner & Gordon) Don't be mad at AMAZON because the cd isn't avaliable here. I contacted ONE WAY records and the cd is completely out of print. I had no idea that it existed until I found it here on amazon. It was released in 1993 and I totally missed it. I didn't think I'd ever find it, even used, until yesterday while I was at the used record/cd store, I checked the same store about a month ago and had no luck. But when I went in yesterday there it was..there was actually 2 of them. I was expecting to buy a used cd, but to my pleasant surprise, it is actually new unused old stock, still sealed with original annoying plastic security sticker which was put on by the manufacturer. ...Good luck..and happy hunting!!!!"

"This is certainly a cut above many 60s CD, and I have 100s. It has great "fat" folk baroque rock production with tasteful instrumentation, great songs and singing. This anthology and the Grass Roots "Let's Live For Today", which Sloan produced and co-wrote, are outstanding additions to people who love great mid-60s pop."

"This CD is a great buy. I don't like every song on the album, but Sloan is an excellent songwriter from the 1960s whose material is very popular. He never scored big himself though, which is sad because his material is so great. Buy it just for a taste of the protest 60s!"
