Phaeleh aka Matt Preston is a classically trained musician and electronic sound scientist whose influences range from the euphoric heights of Nordic electronica through cinematic breakbeat to the depth charges of dubstep. His high spec production sound instantly won him support from the scene's leading artists, including Skream, N-Type, Scuba, Distance, Oris Jay, RSD and Jakes to name but a few, as well as radio support on BBC Radio 1, BBC Asian Network, BBC 6 Music and Kiss FM. Having topped the sales charts with releases on Surface Tension, Against the Grain & Digital Sin as well as future releases on Skream's Disfigured Dubz, N-Type's Wheel & Deal Records and label of the moment Black Box, he's now ready to drop his future classic debut album 'Fallen Light'. Anticipation for his debut has already reached fever pitch - his recent promo mix containing a megamix of snippets from the album forthcoming has been breaking torrent piracy records and occupying front page of all relevant forums as well.. So, has it been worth the wait? The album opens with recent single 'Afterglow' featuring Soundmouse - underpinning the delicate melody and yearning vocals with sparse, skittering beats and lo-slung bass to epic effect, whilst the malevolent dub of 'Bad Man' shows that Phaeleh is more than capable of stepping up the drama,'Delusions' pits a gentle, emotive piano riff against interlocking driving percussion and low end groove, 'Breathe In Air' (also featuring Soundmouse)is a soaring anthem - dancing pads blend with descending guitar arpeggios to spine tingling effect.. Closing out the album is the title track - moody strings and breakbeats call to mind a darker, brooding twin to Massive Attack's 'Unfinished Sympathy'. So there you have it -'Fallen Light' is a rich, deep debut, marked out by its lightness of touch, hooky melodies, deft drum programming, quaking bass and exquisite vocals...
