CD ReviewsIts good no matter what Planet you're on! R. Spaulding | Minnesota | 10/01/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "This album was the 1st of the bands material to reach my ears and I liked it immediately! As I listened more and more, I started to LOVE this album, every song is just SOLID... I just had to check out their other material. As I checked out their earlier stuff, I heard a pretty big difference from the new album. Although, I DO now like their older stuff, I am really glad that they took a "heavier" approach to their latest release... It has SO much more energy!" Not What I'd Anticipated, But Still A Good Surprise!!! Jennifer C. Willich | Las Vegas, NV USA | 07/28/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "My only exposure to Phantom Planet had been through their reissued "The Guest" album. I was instantly entranced by the lead singer's voice and the way he belted out songs like "Wishing Well" and, predictably, "California." So when I purchased this follow-up album, I expected more of the poppy and powerful music I had come to associate them with. Upon uploading this album onto my iPod, I was a bit put off by the departure from The Guest. Less belting, more complicated cord progressions, a more layered & harder sound overall. I wasn't sure if it would grow on me like their previous album, but after a few go-rounds, Phantom Planet's self-titled evolution has made itself a place in my most recently played songs. Give it a try, you'll like it!!!"
