You should get this CD!! I already own it, otherwise I would be jumping up and down right now that it is available!! Phil was at our church for a concert in August and the man writes amazing songs (some of which you may know from singing in church) and sings with his whole heart. (A really good thing in his case) I'm not a music reviewer, so it's hard to explain, but this album rocks!!
CD Reviews
Impressive and moving

"I listen to a diverse selection of christian music, but Mr. Wickham was not known to me.
I got the album and good grief - it is extraordinary. In christian music there are many albums that just sounds boring at first listen, and on the 10th. This album is extraordinary - the music is beautiful - the vocals impressive and the message it conveys is also just as good.
There are no bad tracks here but some stand out: Sailing on a ship, Beautiful and True Love are three examples of such.
The album has been a blessing and encouragement to me. Highly recommended!"
No Sophmore Slump Here

"Phil Wickham will probably be one of those artists that will go underappreciated for a long time to come. One of those rare treasures you will be glad to find. In his sophmore release Cannons, Phil offers up a fresh plate of from the heart lyrics and what it means to be a Christian. This man's relationship with God is so uplifting and powerful and it shows. Songs like "Must I Wait" and "Home" are a testament to this.
The album is a litle more rock (sounds like nostalgic rock at times) than his previous effort but Phil has given it his uniqiue mark which helps the record. The album begins with "Must I Wait" an amazing oepner. One of the lines that really hit you when you're first listening to this track is "how long must I wait for my love cuz I need you oh I need you My heart is bursting and breaking apart for my love." "After Your Heart," in my opinion the weakest of the set, also is a fast paced rock song. Coldplay and Keane really come to mind here as well as some of the mid/late 90s rock bands. "Desire" is more of a softer paced but a great track. After "Cannons" one of the best songs off the album, the music takes a mellower approach with Phil's voice being doubled over and synthized a bit. Although a great addition to the songs, sometimes it can be a tad annoying. Some of the later standouts include "Sailing on a Ship," "True Love," " "Home" and one of my favorite's "Spirit Fall." In the album notes, Phill says he would like to close his shows with this song and was glad he could end the album with this powerful song. I could not agree more.
In comparison to his debut, Cannons is a much stronger effort and sometimes a bit over produced nonetheless it also carries the rawness of Phill's first album, which is a plus. If you don't have this album yet, run now, don't walk to get it."

"This cd is just amazing! When you heard these songs that phil sings, you can feel the strong relationship that he has with God, it is real! You feel his hearts cry to his savior and you know it is personal.... its deep! This awesome worship is exactly like what is said about his music-MESMERIZING, ATOMOSPHERIC, CAPTIVATING, STUNNING, SOARING, LAVISH, and POETIC. I strongly recommend this cd to anyone who has a Passion for Christ like Phil does.....Listen to it, it is beautiful and liberating!"

"I am not the type of person who likes specific artists. I like individual songs, and usually only a couple of songs from each artists impresses me. So when I heard "After Your Heart" on the radio and liked it, I wasn't expecting to purchase the entire CD. But I listened to song, after song, after song, and realized there was not one song on the CD I did not instantly loved. To this date this CD (and Phil's other CD) are the only two full albums I have ever bought.
Each song is unique, beautiful, and amazing. Every time I listened to a new song I thought, "I've never heard anything like this before." Phil has incredible talent, and most of all, incredible passion for Christ. His love for Jesus and wish to see God practically bleeds into every aspect of his music. It is so touching and moving. You can feel him yearning to be with God, and that is something most Christian artists today seem to lack. Even many of my non-Christian fans hear him and are impressed.
My favorite songs on the track change from day to day, but my current favorite is "Must I Wait." My second favorite is probably "The Light Will Come." This song is very touching and beautiful.
There's not much else I can say besides this: If you buy this album, you will not regret it."
