"Recorded in 1998 with Jim Beard on piano and keyboards, Alphonso Johnson on bass and Rodney Holmes on drums, this album features twelve superb compositions by Philip and a beautiful rendering of "Stardust".



There was already an excellent album titled "Guitar Groove", which had been recorded in 1960 by Rene Thomas. Thomas was another phenomenal Belgian guitar player who died too early in 1975. He had a be-bop-ish, lyrical style like Tal Farlow. Thomas' influence on Catherine is obvious and I think that calling this album "Guitar Groove" is meant to be a humble and well-deserved homage to Rene Thomas. Very well done indeed.

"Philip, one more time, got it all right (Well done Flup, as they say in Belgium...) The melodies are super, the choruses are interesting and the former Wayne Shorter's rythm section works like a machine. Special mention to Rodney Holmes, most probably the smallest tallest drummer of these days ! If anybody reading this review knows on which other CD's Rodney is playing I would be delighted to hear about it..."
