CD Reviews

Wow

"I have almost every live Phish release to date. I recently added 10 to my collection, and I was amazed. The first two disc of this release are absolutely unbelieveable. They only stop playing for one song on the second set. TMWSIY I think really brings alot to this show. And the Weekapaug, I mean seriously its absolutely rediculous. I HIGHLY RECOMEND this set next to live 13 and 6."
My favorite show released by phish

"Out of the 16 volumes to date, this has got to be the best. All in all, this show is great. A nice llama opener and a rocking maze in the first set is nice, but the magic was made in the second. When Fish drops the beat in 2001 to start the set, it is heaven after that, especially when simple segues back into mike song, ridiculous. And then a fluffhead, and a nice antelope filler, makes these 3 cds overall the most complete. Now for individual songs over the whole series, check out 11....(tweezer opener, YEM and most importantly ghost...amazing), 8(the chalkdust torture is probably, individually, my favorite song of the whole series), and 12(mike's grove-mike was definitely grooving)."
3 discs filled with great music...

"HIGHLIGHTS

disc 1: "llama" of course has some cool guitar riffs, "gumbo" has a sweet guitar and piano solo that ends up going into a great "maze" filled with (as always) some kicka** solos, after that comes a personal favorite of mine, "if i could i would", which includes a beautiful solo by page, another piano solo in "scent of a mule", the "stash" is about 11 minutes long and the set then ends with "golgi apparatus"

disc 2: this disc is unlike any other entire disc by phish that i have listened to.. set 2 (disc 2) starts out with a fairly short "2001" (4:46) which goes right into "mike's song" and starts one of the longest mike's grooves out there, that then goes into an instrumental "simple" that's 3 minutes long which very sleakily trey takes it and makes it "catapult", which then goes back into "simple", this time with words (this is also when they start to get a little goofy); this then goes into the most hilarious "icculus" ever (one that makes me laugh hard every time i listen to it), this then goes back into 2 minutes of "simple"... (i needed to break up this part of the review somehow, thus the "...", although the music doesn't stop)...right from "simple" is a minute of "mike's song", which flows nicely into a peaceful "i am hydrogen".. at this point it gets real chilled.. until it goes into a short, 3 1/2 minute "weekapaug groove" , then when "wg" turns into "tmwsiy", it almost seems that they knew this would happen all along and this is one of those special moments for me .. then, something provokes them to play thee traditional "avenu malcanu", which turns right back to where they left off in "tmwsiy" which gets funky towards the end and goes into a kick***, 14 1/2 minute "fluffhead".. at the end of "fluffhead" it goes silent for awhile and the disc ends with "my sweet one", although it's hard to hear

disc 3: still set 2, disc starts out with "big ball jam", then goes into goes into a 10 minute "jjlc" a couple more songs to close out the show (not to be negative or to bring down this show at all, but the encore is the worst i have heard)and then a filler added that includes an awesome "antelope" that goes on for about 20 minutes

all in all, definitely a great show to have, and if you just wanna sit, chill, and have a good time, pop in disc 2...

i have spent a good amount of time reviewing as i have been listening to this show and i hope that my review has been helpful in some way"
