"I have only seen phish twice, I have around 50 cds, but this by far has some of my favorite versions of songs I have heard. The "Reba" is second to only 12-31-95, The "Cavern" has some excellent bass at the beginning, and the horns do a better job with it than on "Hampton Comes Alive" The "Bathtub" is shorter than some, but is very good with the horns.Every track I mentioned is excellent, but I would honestly reccomend buying this C.D. For the "Frankenstein" it is by far the best version I have ever heard. The Vocal effects really add to it, it builds well, the horns make it sound excellent. If you're looking for a 30 min jammed out "Harry Hood" then this C.D. isnt what you are looking for. The jams are not long (mostly due to the horns), but the overall sound is incredible."
A really great performance...

"I was very pleased after hearing this LIVEPHISH release... the sound quality is good (not great), and the setlist is almost perfect, not to mention the high-energy performance of the boys.
The always pleasant "Reba" is present in the first disc, as well as "The Landlady" and "Cavern." These are the highlights of the first set, and come off as much more powerful than their studio versions. The second set starts near the end of the first CD with an amazing version of "Golgi Apparatus" that captures everything that I personally adore about the song. A relatively short "Tweezer" segues into the hyper, Fishman-penned "My Sweet One". The second set highlight is a triple segue, beginning with "Gumbo" and ending with the funky "Weekapaug Groove." The encore contains four songs and ends with a short reprise of "Tweezer."
For any newbies that might be reading, this volume would be a very good introduction to the series. It's very cheap compared to the other released and contains many of Phish's live staples."
Great versions of many songs, horns are great!

"This is my first Live Phish release, and I am glad that I looked at it above some of the more recent shows. I know that there isn't a lot of long jamming, but it's cool to hear the guys team up with the Country Horns because it makes for some excellent versions of awesome songs. A major highlight on this album is the Frankenstein. I have to agree that it is probably the best version ever released. Reba is definetly up there as one of the best ever too. The Gumbo>Mike's>Hydrogen>Weekapaug is spectacular with the horns! The jazzy tunes like Flat Fee, Donna Lee, and Moose make this album unique and were a rare find for me. And The Landlady is definetly better with the horns, not worse. An awesome album and a good recording too!"
Thank you for releasing a horn show!!!!!!

"wow, i am happy to have heard this release. while they are not the horn section from, say, duke ellington's band with cootie williams, ben webster and johnny hodges, the giant country horns add a nice touch to phish's music. they play on an appropriate number of tracks, and never really sound "trashy", although the trumpet player's tone has a bit of edge to it. short instrumentals like flat fee and the landlady (which is actually an instrumental portion of "punch you in the eye") are really, really cool to hear in my opinion...i'm sorry that those songs seem like "wastes" to some people, but you should be appreciative that phish tries to branch out and play instrumental music here and there that doesn't jam out for 35 minutes. plus, the songs are good! flat fee is the closest that phish will ever come to playing jazz. as for donna lee and moose the mooche, the two charlie parker tunes, i will directly quote my review of livephish 09 - phish shouldn't play jazz. they never have and never will play it. that being said, donna lee is played as more of a shuffle and moose the mooche is played more like a calypso. i like them, but maybe they should have only done moose. the horns solo...eh. i don't wanna talk about it because its only a small part of the show :). the REBA...wow, i don't think many people could give you a better version of this tune (when i wrote this review, i hadn't hear the version from 1993/2/20 in atlanta. i stand corrected! its still a good version though). the bass playing is fantastic! it's really cool to hear mike's groove and david bowie with horns...you have to get used to the trumpet player but his raw-er sound is cool...i just wish he hadn't hit a wrong note at the end of bowie :-/ touch me is one of my favorite covers that phish did and it works so well with the horns. nothing too groundbreaking here besides reba, but its still a lot of fun and i love the horn shows! reccomended."

"Come on now guys. The Giant Country Horns add a great touch, and the quality of the recording is great for a 1991 show. I have bootlegs 20 times worse. The transitions are flowing, the playing is tight, and the singing is actually on key. What could be better?
The high points- Bathtub, a great version, with nice fills with the horns. Also, the AC/DC Bag is sick. Reba's nice, Tweezer's sick as usual, and the Cavern is awesome. Other good ones, Mike's Song and Weekapaug are nice, and the David Bowie's different, but very cool.
Low points- some mediocre instrumentals like the Landlady, and Buried Alive. The Horns just sound trashy in those. But that is really the only problem I have with it.
All together, a great show. I wish I could have been there to see it. So stop the negative reviews, it's well worth the money. Take it from an experienced Phish head."
