Beautiful performance ruined by sound engineers.

"This is a lovely, nuanced performance. Brüggen is an energetic, yet sensitive conductor, alive to the subtleties so necessary for Mozart. Gibbons is equally sensitive and graceful. The instrument, a modern reconstruction of an Anton Walter fortepiano of c.1795, while mellow and lucid, does not have much volume. Unfortunately, the recording engineers have placed the instrument too far back from the microphones. In order to enjoy the mellow and subtle sounds of the fortepiano, one needs to crank up the volume - and then be blasted by the much louder orchestra. The only solution is to sit near the volume control and do a lot of adjusting."
