"what else can I say? I got this CD after already getting familiar with recordings of Piazzolla played by the composer himself, then by Kremer and Yo-Yo Ma. This one is relatively limited in the sense that the piano is the sole medium in between the composer and you. At first one may be suspicious about the piano music of a composer whose music carries the distinctive sound of the bandoneon, and for which Piazzolla's music is mostly looked for. However, all this proved to be nonsense. Arthur Moreira Lima makes a wonderful job in glorifying Piazzola's piano music and the transcriptions of pieces like the famous Libertango. These pieces for piano solo are no less inspiring, touching and passionate than anything else Piazzolla wrote for strings and bandoneon. The two musicians are no stranger ot each others, and in fact the Tango-Preludio is dedicated by Piazzolla to Lima, a recognition of Lima's piano playing by the composer himself.
I think any Piazzolla's fan should have this CD in their collection."
