"Very good CD. Outstanding musicianship. Updated bluegrass. Different from their other albums, as Chris Thile is not the mandolin player. I purchased this and another album from Nickel Creek to listen to Chris Thile. This one is a surprise favorite of mine now. Also different from previous albums is that this one is all instrumental."
Clearing up some confusion

"This is not an album of songs performed by Nickel Creek, it is a tribute album. The "Pickin' On..." albums are a series of various bluegrass artists playing other bands' material. Most of the songs are instrumental, but in general the whole series is pretty good. I just noticed the other reviewers expecting the album to be a Nickel Creek album, read the description, and realized there should be a more definite answer on who did this album. There are a ton of albums in the Pickin' On series, but they are all done in a more traditional bluegrass style, so if that doesn't raise the bubbles in your beer then you will be better off getting the original artists' work."
