"Being one of the band's members it may seem questionable or even presumtuous to rate and give a review to this CD. But after having listened, over the years, to quite some recordings of Irish music by non-irish (like, German) musicians as well as Irish groups and musicians, the raw energy and freshness of most of the tracks on this recording I find still remarkable today. There are of course flaws, if you look very close and with the understanding and ears of an Irish musician.
But keep in mind that the CD (resp. vinyl record) had been recorded in 1978 (not 1992!) in three days, including one day for the final mix. Most tracks were done with one or two takes only! The group sound is forceful and very tight which, in my mind, makes up easily for the above mentioned inadequacies. If you like "Gaelic Storm", if only in parts, listen to this one. This is the only existing recording of the band, by the way. The Pied Pipers split up in 1978, right after the record release."
