"Too long out of print since its 1975 Peters Records debut in the USA, this is bar none one of the most gorgeous and durable film scores ever committed to disc, and possibly the apex of Piero Piccioni's output. Jazz, samba and classical strains meld to create a night on the Mediterranean you'll never forget. Stratospheric trumpet solos, lush strings, way-cool percussion, psycho-organ clusters, tranquil acoustic guitars, wordless vocals... Boggles my mind why the title theme did not become a world-class standard, but then much of Piccioni's astonishing output remains ignored by stateside ears; go figure.I've been spinning this thing for over twenty years and I never, ever tire of it. Push play and kick back with someone you love for an hour of dreamy travel.Call it jazz, easy listening, lounge, filmmusic, whatever, SWEPT AWAY... is sheer beauty."
