CD ReviewsPlacebo are definately not at the bitter end gemma smith | scotland | 03/12/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Can Placebo get any better? Each album from their self titled debut through the heart felt angst that was Without You I'm Nothing, to the slightly electronic influenced Black Market Music, Placebo never deliver anything but utterly brilliant and spine tingling music. The Bitter End is the first single from their forthcoming album Sleeping With Ghosts and if this single is anything to go by the album will be another mind bending hit with the typical brian molko twist on life..... BUY IT IF YOU LIKE GOOD MUSIC" Nothing since 2000, then this! experimusicdotcom | united kingdom | 03/17/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "The 1st time you hear this single you know its great. Its fast, pumped-up rock that see's Placebo carry on from Black Market Music. Its more intense than alot of the stuff they've done and Molko's immense vocals are really showcased. He has a voice so distinctive and heartfelt that it puts him in the Thom Yorke, Bjork and Matt Bellamy (Muse) league. Placebo have been increasing in Popularity in the UK since their 2nd album and this is proved by this single charting at No.11 in the UKTOP40 (16/03/03). Their new album Sleeping With Ghosts has just come out and if this new single is anything to go by then the album is going to be a stunner. In fact if their are just 3 more songs as good as this single it is worth buying. There are another 2 songs on this single. Track 2 is poor, its basically an average rock soundscape with sampled phone conversations. Track 3 on the other hand is quite listenable. Its not as intense and there is some narration instead of singing but the chorus is good. This track is a grower but I hope the album tracks are better. Overall I reccomend buying the lp, but if you are unsure then experiment with this. All their other 3 albums come highly recommended also. Thankfully this single comes in a fullsize album jewel case rather than the slimline or cardboard cases."
