The performances are good and the sound quality is acceptable. Hindemith's craftsmanship was always impeccable. Particularly fun on this set are Hindemith's string trio, scherzo for viola and cello, and Hindemith playing his Op.24 viola sonata (the one that got him on Goebbels blacklist). The symphonic works aren't as striking as the Symphony in E flat or the Mathis symphony but that's probably a matter of taste. Hindemith fans who want to hear him directing and performing his own music will want this."
